Our Sports Placement

OUR CORE AIM:

Every resident is physically fit, psychologically healthy and be able to participate in a sport of their choice

WHY DO YOU NEED MY SUPPORT?

Physical inactivity is recognised by the World Health Organisation as the fourth leading risk factor for mortality. Inactivity is increasing in countries across the world, which in turn is leading to a sharp rise in the prevalence of chronic diseases, particularly cardiovascular, respiratory, cancer and diabetes. Sadly India is a country that is hugely affected by chronic diseases. In 2004 it accounted for 50% of all deaths and it is predicted to account for more than ¾ of all deaths by 2030, overtaking countries such as America and China. Besides stress, depression and anxiety issues takes a toll on the healthy development of a rural student in the issue of social exclusion. Sport is one activity that helps in the integrated development of a healthy mind and body.

CYDF firmly believes that sport/active recreation can be used to address this issue positively. It is well documented that sport actively brings communities together, builds individual discipline, self confidence and belief, but without suitable facilities, equipment and opportunities people rarely get the opportunity to participate in an activity of their choice.
